Providence Gap
The world premiere of an Appalachian saga! Some guys have all the luck. In the tradition of BROTHER WOLF, BEAUTIFUL STAR and BLOODY BLACKBEARD comes a new play blending magic, myth and music. Chance Presnell is lucky. Abandoned at birth, he is rescued by a stranger. He meets his wife by accident. And coincidence saves his only child. But luck can change. As war calls him to Europe and an old jealousy splits his family apart, fate twists and his fortunes change.
First Friday
The community is invited to a self-guided tour of local art galleries and studios, museums, retail shops, restaurants and alternative arts venues the first Friday of every month from 6-9pm,and many of the participating locations will host special events, promotions and demonstrations and some venues may offer extended hours past 9pm and refreshments. A detailed, downloadable map will be available on the day of the event on a dedicated Web site, www.downtownfridays.com. Dozens of Downtown restaurants will also be open offering regular hours.
Improv at the Idiot Box!
Every Friday and Saturday night at 10pm come see our hilarious improv comedy. Most people now have a familiarity with improv comedy as it has been made popular by ABC’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway.” Improv comedy involves actors creating scenes on the spot building off of each actors ideas – the original idea usually comes from audience suggestions. Although the description is dry, the result is almost always funny. Every performance is based on suggestions given by you, the audience. Because each show is created with your suggestions every show is unique.
